Duathlon season is here! There’s a great offering in Mayo this year. Only 1 week left to register for Westport Duathlon Sun 22nd Feb 10am Skate park.
A duathlon is an athletic event that combines running and cycling, in that order. It’s essentially a triathlon without the swimming portion.
Typical Format:
- First Run: A running leg kicks off the event.
- Bike Leg: Competitors transition to the cycling portion.
- Second Run: The event concludes with another running leg.
Common Duathlon Distances:
- Sprint Duathlon: 5 km run, 20 km bike, 2.5 km run
- Get ready to kickstart 2026 as the Triathlon Ireland Duathlon National Series returns, bringing the ultimate Run-Bike-Run challenge to some of Ireland’s best courses!
With eight rounds in 2026, the series kicks off in January at Galco Naas Duathlon and runs through to April, with the conclusion at the Duathlon National Championships taking place in April, hosted by Belpark TC’s Phoenix Park Duathlon.
Both new and experienced athletes will take on the challenge, collecting points at every event they choose to compete in – with many ambitious athletes setting their eyes on the National Series Championship title, awarded at our annual awards.
